New Feature!
Posted by shonk at 02:56 AM in Blogging | TrackBackAs of right now, there’s a new feature here at selling waves. The latest headlines from six of my favorite weblogs, Catallarchy, improved clinch, mock savvy, No Treason!, Off Wing Opinion and Scribbling are all available in one place: this feedroll. This link is also available at right, under the “Stay Informed” head. I hope you find this useful.
PS. There are a few other weblogs I would have liked to add to the list, especially bighead, but also dooce and Old fishinghat. Unfortunately, none of them generates an RSS feed, so I have no good way of doing so (and custom-built feeds are notoriously finicky).
I'm also amenable to making several other, similar feedroll-type pages, if there is any legitimate interest. For example, a news page could feature the latest headlines from the BBC(British Broadcasting Corporation), Wired, CNET and the New York Times, a sports page could feature headlines from ESPN, Off Wing Opinion, Baseball Musings, Hoops Junkie, etc. and a Bulgaria page could feature headlines from Novinite, and the latest posts from Sofia Sideshow and Alaskan Bulgarian. I'm sure I could work up a couple more if there's any interest.
So let me know.

One think I've wanted to do, and I know there must be a way to do it, is to set up a single updating list of headlines from chosen blogs with the headlines appearing in the order they're blogged. One list that shows all the headlines from my favorite blogs.
One list to rule them all,
One list to find them,
0ne list to bring them all
And to my web site bind them
In the land of NT where serpents lie...
Yeah, we've talked about this before and I would be interested as well. In theory it shouldn't be that hard to do, but I've never seen an implementation anywhere.

Oh yeah, I keep confusing you with Andy. You're the one who blogs.
Posted by: John T. Kennedy at February 22, 2004 02:25 PMI still haven't found anything quite like what JTK mentions. I had hopes for a while that the "mt-rssfeed plugin":http://mt-plugins.org/archives/entry/mtrss_feed.php would do the trick, but I couldn't find any implementations of in this vein. Which isn't to say it can't do it, but the documentation is poor and it doesn't appear to have any time/date related tags.
One problem I could see arising is that the only way I can think of to do this would be through extracting the dc:date info from each of the items in a feed, which means that if someone's system time or offset is wrong, their posts would be consistently misplaced in the list.
I'll keep looking for a way to do it, though.
